Description

Warner Library was was dedicated on February 22, 1929, and was meant to serve the villages of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow. The benefactors of the library were a couple, Worcester Reed Warner and Cornelia Blakemore Warner. They built the library as a gift to the communities.

The Warners chose architect Walter Dabney Blair to design the library. Blair used Vermont limestone as the main building material. The library was built in the Neo-Classical Revival style.

Of particular interest are: the Bronze Door, brought back by the Warners from a Florentine estate in Italy; and the Detmer Panel, from the "Old Palace" in England, built in 1606. During the 1970s, an extension was built on the library's west side, which more than doubled the space.
