Stoas--Greece--Athens--Pictorial works.
Trajan, Emperor of Rome, 53-117--Cult.
Description
Three photographs.
The first photograph shows the library proper behind the stoa with a storefront shop. This room is believed to have housed a cult statue of Trajan; the white, vertical stone to the right of the entrance contains the inscription.
The library was dedicated, in part, to Trajan, so the statue here may have been of the emperor. The rectangular marble block, standing on end and a part of the wall, contains the inscription for the cult center.
