Description

These inscriptions, in German and Turkish, are on either side of the main entrance into the Library of Celsus. The translation is:

"Library and memorial of Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus. With the agreement of the general administration for museums and antiquities of Turkey, the Austrian Archaeological Institute, in collaboration with the building industry, restored this monument during the years 1970-1978. Research and construction from the present became a visible unity in this structure of the past due to: ... [names]."
