Description
Eleven photographs.
The first photograph is of a drawing of Washington Irving, hanging in the lobby.
The second photograph is a drawing of Mark Twain, which hangs opposite that of Washington Irving in the lobby.
The third photograph is the bust of Dante Aligeriri, that is on a top shelf looking out over the circulation desk in the lobby.
The next three photographs are of Hebe, a statue by Thorval Osen and donated by Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester S. Bliss in 1929.
Two photographs are of the remodeled hallway that has been designated the Fitzgerald Art Gallery, named in honor of Gerald Fitzgerald, library trustee, 1941-1969, and board president, 1953-1969. The first photograph is looking from the old library, through the gallery and at the reference desk in the new building. The other photo is looking from the new building, through the gallery and into the old building.
The last three photographs are of the Detmer Panel, saved from the estates of Julian F. Detmer, a local Tarrytown resident. His estate, Edgemont, was on 40 acres of land and was modeled after the Normandy Chateau with 22 rooms.
